Program Description (Resumen Del Programa)

The Westminster Police Department Auto Theft Prevention & Recovery Program
provides residents with the resources and knowledge to reduce the risk of auto
thefts. The program’s “Westy Trax” initiative offers free vehicle trackers to
community members to aid in the recovery of stolen vehicles.

WPD will install the tracker in a pre-determined location in the participant's

Participants must live and/or work in Westminster and meet ONE of the following
requirements:

I understand that participation in this program is voluntary, and I agree to work
collaboratively with law enforcement to make the program successful. Knowing this program is multifaceted, I agree to utilize these anti-theft items in conjunction with each other to enhance the overall effectiveness of the program. The items include one tracking device (AirTag or Tile), one steering wheel locking device (Club), a CATETCH kit, and a deterrent decal. I agree to immediately notify law enforcement if my vehicle is stolen and to provide access to GPS tracking information to assist with the prompt apprehension of criminals and recovery of my vehicle. I understand that attempting to locate stolen vehicles is inherently dangerous and agree to not use GPS information to track and/or recover my vehicle on my own. I understand that other factors like call load and vehicle location will affect response times and availability to investigate the reported theft. I agree to not hold the Westminster Police Department liable for any damage my vehicle may incur because of participating in the program and/or during the recovery process. I understand that the issued tracking device will not be used for any other purposes while participating in this program. I knowingly enter into this agreement of my own free will and I agree to notify the WPD Auto Theft Team if I decide I no longer wish to participate.

Yo comprendo que mi participación en este programa es voluntaria y estoy de acuerdo para colaborar con oficiales del la léy para que tenga éxito este programa. Reconociendo que este programa es multifacético, y me pongo de acuerdo para utilizar tres dispositivos antihurtos juntos para aumentar la eficacia del programa. Los tres dispositivos incluyen un rastreador de posicionamiento global (AirTag o Tile), un bastón de volante (Club), y dos calcomanías de antihurto. Estoy de acuerdo para notificar oficiales del la léy immediatamente, en caso de que mi vehículo sea hurtado y proveer acceso a la información del rastreador de posicionamiento global para ayudar en la aprehensión de los sospechosos y el recuperamiento de mi vehículo. Me pongo de acuerdo en no responsabilizar la Policía Municipal de Westminster por cualquier daño que se haga a mi vehículo por participar en el program o en el proceso de recuperar mi vehículo. A reminder email will be sent to participants the week before their appointment
(June 21) with additional instructions.

Participants must arrive on-time for their appointment at the Public Safety Center (9110 Yates St). The registered owner of the vehicle must be at the appointment with their vehicle and is required to bring a valid driver license, vehicle registration car and proof of insurance.

El dueño registrado del vehículo debe de estar presente durante la cita con el vehículo y es requerido de tener una licencia valida para conducir, la registración del vehículo, y prueba de seguranza.

Participants must also bring their smartphone or personal device to their appointment in order to pair the tracker. If you request an Apple AirTag, please ensure that your iPhone's software is updated. If you request a Tile Tracker, please install the Tile app from the App Store or Google Play and create an account prior to your appointment. We will be sending additional instructions on how to do this.

Participantes tambien deben de tener su telefono inteligente o aparato personal durante la cita para sincronizar el rastreador. Si usted solicita un “Apple AirTag”, por favor asegúrese que el software de su iPhone es actualizado. Si usted solicita un “Tile Tracker”, por favor de instalar la aplicación “Tile” de App Store o Google Play. En la aplicacion “Tile”, cree una cuenta antes de su cita.
